Why not tax the NFL? As of this moment, they are completely tax exempt. They make billions every year off of every fan (and a lot of non-fans who buy stuff for loved ones) who go to games, watch pay-per-view, buy team clothes, foam fingers, mugs, beer, food and so much more. I’m not saying that they need to pay a billion dollars a year, just what’s “fair”, like the rest of us.
I know the argument. They’ll raise ticket prices……again. Most likely but, if they’re paying taxes and aren’t getting the attendance, just maybe it might cause them to lower ticket prices and put a lower cap on the ridiculous amounts they pay the players. Yes, I know…dream on!
As for the church……if they can spend $390 million on lobbying members of Congress then they most surely can pay taxes. Heck, they can you that $390 mill to PAY their taxes! Either that, or we do a TRUE SEPARATION OF CHURCH AND STATE and do NOT allow them to lobby or donate funds to anything remotely resembling politics.
You cannot have it both ways. Just ask the Founding Fathers….oh yeah, and actually READ the Constitution sometime.
Preacher, priest, ministers and pastors, even church elders, should not be preaching about politics from the pulpit. It’s just plainly and simply wrong. Church is for God and our souls. Yes, preachers, priests, ministers and pastors are people, too. I get that. BUT the church is not the place for politics. Remember when Jesus threw the money lenders out of the temple? Same principle.
You can’t mix the two. It’s just not right.
