I’ve waited a couple of days just to see what the backlash was going to be on the Hobby Lobby Contraception Law and so I could see both sides of the argument. Well, I’ve seen both sides and I don’t like the view. I’m seeing a total lack of respect for women and a taking away of the same freedoms that men have. I am seeing religion replacing the Constitution.
To start….Public Record …. Hobby Lobby has invested its employee retirement plan in several contraception and abortion pill companies while denying 4 types of contraception for women and advocating that their doctors refuse to talk about contraception with them.
Yes, that’s what I said. They have invested employee retirement funds in contraception companies and abortion pill companies but are denying their female employees access to contraception through company insurance….insurance that the EMPLOYEES PAY FOR.
However, men can still get their Viagra erections from the same insurance program. Anyone see a problem with this besides me?
Five men on the Supreme Court decided they had a right to regulate uteri. That’s right. Any woman’s uterus is now fair game to legislate according to the Supreme Courts decision.
Why does a business, or the Supreme Court, have the right to decide whether or not I can go on the pill or not?
Are they going to raise my child? Uh, no.
Are they going to cure my acne or stop the cramps that are so debilitating I can’t move for days at a time except to throw up? No, but the pill does.
Are they going to prevent my endometriosis? Again, the pill does.
Are they going to pay for my counseling if I’m raped and forced to bear a rapists child that I don’t want? Please, don’t say there’s always adoption. There are close to 500,000 kids in foster care right now……..adopt them and quit letting them be shunted from home to home.
Are they going to prevent me from getting Pelvic Inflammatory Disease? No, but the pill does.
Are they going to prevent my anemia? No, but, again, the pill can.
Are they going to prevent my getting Polycystic Ovary Syndrome? And, yes, the pill does.
Are they going to prevent my cancer? The pill WILL prevent several forms of cancer.
Are they going to pay out of their corporate, and Supreme Court, pockets all of my medical expenses when I have an unplanned pregnancy when I can’t support or afford to have a child or when I need to have surgery to remove the endometriosis that will leave my insides so scarred I can never have children or will cause me to have cancer? Will they pay for any of that?
Of course they won’t.
What this ruling has done is eradicate much of the progress women have made in the last 100 years. Progress that we shouldn’t have had to fight for. Rights that should have been ours from the beginning but that these so-called men are afraid to “give” us.
What is happening in this country is frightening. The rights of women as human beings who deserve the same rights as men is being whittled away and no one seems to realize it.
The Supreme Court, and most of Congress, has been bought by big business. No longer does the Constitution matter to the Supreme Court. If it did, this ruling never would have happened. I could NOT have happened. Religion does NOT trump the Constitution on which this country is based.
No one has the right to regulate a body part of a single sex. NO ONE but the person who owns it.
