We are a nation that has been trained to be fearful. The media and social media have seen to it.
They have demonized people who want to escape genocide, making it seem that turning the hunted away is a good thing. It isn’t.
I understand not wanting refugees in this country. We have a hard enough time taking care of our own. However…………. As I recall, Jesus said love thy neighbor as thyself. He didn’t turn away anyone. He had compassion for those less fortunate than himself and tried to help them all, not just a select few. He didn’t ask their religion, he didn’t stipulate they follow him. He gave of himself in a selfless and compassionate manner that we should all follow.
Turning away those in desperate need is decidedly NOT what Jesus would do. Besides, If we don’t help the refugees we are giving Daesh exactly what they want. We are dividing ourselves, we are turning innocents into enemies and showing the world that we don’t give a damn. We are proving we really ARE what they call “the Great Satan”. That we are godless infidels.
I don’t know about anyone else, but giving the enemy what they want isn’t a very smart thing to do, is it? And I, for one, refuse to bow down to the fear and to Daesh.
