This is the United States. We do not elect kings nor do we bow down to any man, or his minions, claiming to be king, dictator or emperor.
We fought to obtain our independence from kings, monarchs and tyranny and to have freedom of religion.
We have a constitution declaring that all men are created equal. Not that one man is better than the other or that one man is worthy of being a king. That is what we fought long and hard against. And good men and women have died for that belief and for the Constitution for the last 240 years. Not for a monarch to be imposed, but to keep our republic strong.
The military does not swear allegiance to any one man. Not a president nor a king. They swear to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America against all enemies foreign and domestic.
For priebus to make this statement* takes his worship of trump to an unamerican level. He did not misspeak. He was not misunderstood. He was not grammatically challenged. His statement of “a new king” is right up there with Omorosa’s statement about everyone bowing down to trump.
I, for one, will never, ever, bow down to any man who thinks he’s a king, disrespects and wants to eradicate parts of the Constitution, lies about everything and rants on twitter like a 13 year old bully.
I believe in the Constitution. I believe in this American republic and what it stands for. But a president who thinks he’s a king? NEVER.
*today, Reince Priebus of the GOP made a statement about a “new king”
